The Carol Andrew Singers : founded 1987
The Carol Andrew Singers are based in Darlington, Co. Durham.
Carol Andrew formed the Choir in 1987 from 25 pupils and students. Now, the choir has 54 members,drawn from Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. All are trained singers. Some are now semi-professional soloists, taking leading roles in Opera Performances, Celebrity Concerts and major Religious Works.
The Choir is in constant demand for concert performances throughout the North, East and West of England and have raised thousands of pounds for national charities.
The singers have competed in The International Eisteddfod, Llangollen, North Wales reaching fourth in the world in the set piece. They performed in the BBC Choir of the Year, where they reached the quarter-finals.
They were chosen to appear in the ITV Channel 3 programme "With Voices Raised", and represented the United Kingdom in the International Advent Singing Festival in Vienna, plus a concert tour of France and Switzerland.
The choir has made many recordings including 3 CDs: " Let's begin again ", "Sing a Christmas Song " and the latest CD: "Come sing and dance ".
